In 1879, Lars Fredrik Nilson founded Scandium in Sweden. Scandium is fron teh latin word "Scandia" meaning Scandinavia. He adn his co-workers were actually looking for rare-earth metals. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

There are many uses for Scandium. Some are of the following: | ~ Isotope tracing in crude oilanalysis. ~ Highly efficiant light source (resembling sunlight):important for indoor or night-time color television transmission. ~ Metallic babseball bats
